Chocolate Caramel Brownies

2 boxes of your favorite brownie mix with chocolate chips
½ cup unsalted butter
½ cup dark brown sugar
I (14 ounce can) Dulce De Leche (I use Nestle La Lechera)

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Mix both brownie mixes according to package directions. Set batter aside.

Add butter and brown sugar to a small saucepan over low heat. While butter melts, stir to combine. As soon as mixture bubbles in the center of the pan add Dulce De Leche. Stir until smooth. Keep stirring caramel until mixture comes back to a full rolling boil (where it boils in the middle of the pan and won’t stop even when you stir it) set timer and stir for 1 minute. Remove from heat and set aside.

Pour half of brownie batter into a 9 x 13-inch metal cake pan sprayed with non-stick spray. Smooth batter to edge of pan. Spoon caramel in an even layer on top of brownie batter. Gently smooth caramel layer. Spoon remaining brownie batter on top of caramel layer. Gently smooth brownie batter to edge of pan covering caramel layer completely. Bake 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Makes one 9 x 13-inch pan. Happy Baking!
