During the holidays, most appetizers are heavy and full of cheese, sour cream, and cream cheese. I like to contrast heavy appetizers with a light one made with fresh fruit. Mixed fruit is cut into smaller, bite sized pieces and a little orange marmalade is stirred in. The marmalade gives the fruit a slight orange flavor and prevents the apples from turning brown. Cinnamon sugar pita chips are sturdy enough to use for dipping without breaking into pieces. So easy!
Fruit Dip with Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips
1 red apple (I use Gala)
1 Green apple (I use Granny Smith), 1/2-inch dice
2 Kiwi’s peeled and cut 1/2-inch dice
1 pound strawberries, cut 1/2-inch dice or quartered
1-2 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 tablespoons orange marmalade
1 cup fresh blueberries
2 (7 ⅓ ounce) bags cinnamon sugar pita chips (I use Stacy’s brand)
Mix apples, kiwi, strawberries, sugar and orange marmalade together in a large bowl. Garnish with blueberries. Refrigerate. Makes 8 cups. Can be made 1 day in advance. Enjoy!
