Norman’s Steakhouse Onions

marydukecooks.com

This recipe is from Norman Gray, grill master and pit-boss. Steakhouse Onions are the perfect accompaniment for steaks. Simple to make, the onions cook in the oven alongside baked potatoes. A general rule of thumb is one onion per two persons.  Enjoy!

Norman’s Steakhouse Onions

4 Vidalia onions
1-2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon A-1 steak sauce
Sea salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

Cut 4 pieces of aluminum foil large enough to cover each onion with 4-inches extra to twist at the top. Cut out each onion root in a V-shaped cone. (Not deeper than 1/3 of the onion.) Fill cone with butter. Pour A-1 sauce on top of butter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Pull foil up sides of each onion and twist at the top like a Hershey’s kiss.

Bake onions at 400ºF alongside potatoes. When potatoes are done the onions will be too! Remove from oven and cut in half. Makes 8 servings.
