Cheesy Bread

cheesy bread
No Italian meal at my house seems complete without cheesy bread. It is my go to recipe when we have spaghetti or lasagna. My favorite cheese to use is Monterey Jack because it melts well and stretches when you pull the pieces of bread apart. Kids love to see how long the cheese will stretch when it is fresh out of the oven!

Cheesy Bread
– 1 Loaf, about 20 slices

1 loaf French or Italian Bread
Dried minced onions
Squeeze margarine or melted butter
2 cups Monterey Jack, Italian blend or mozzarella cheese, shredded
Parchment paper
Aluminum foil

Place bread on a cutting board. Slice with a bread knife making each slice 1 inch thick. Squirt margarine or spread melted butter in between slices of bread. Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon dried minced onion between slices. Divide shredded cheese evenly between slices. Wrap in aluminum foil. Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes or until hot. Serve immediately. Tip: To prevent cheese from sticking to the foil, put a piece of parchment paper large enough to cover the bottom of the bread inside the aluminum foil. Enjoy!
